The Barile family runs plating operations in Newark, New Jersey and Pittsfield, Massachusetts where they develop their first generation of metal finishers

1957

The family relocates to Florida to sell plating chemicals and soon begins working at Aerodex.

196X

The Barile and Sexton families unite through the (now 51-year) marriage of Dave and Toni.

196X

Dave Sexton II, a U.S. Air Force B-2 Bomber mechanic, brings his love of aviation and mechanical systems into the shop floor.

1969

After the Aerodex contract ends, the first and second generation of the family open Broward Industrial Plating with limited capacity, focusing on black oxide coating.

1982

Broward Industrial Plating is shut down due to airport expansion and eminent domain, prompting the family to start anew.

1984

David II officially establishes CMF in Pompano Beach, FL – with just 4,200 sq. ft. of usable production space and no outside partners.

1993

The family’ third generation joins CMF full-time, with Dave Sexton III starting from the bottom in racking and working his way up through every role in the plant.

Mid-2000s

With David II as CEO, CMF renews its focus on systems, scalability, and process improvement.

2009

CMF commits to achieving ISO 9001 and AS9100 certifications before pursuing NADCAP, transforming its quality management systems.

2019

Dave (DJ) formally steps into the CEO role through his father’s gracious and hard-earned retirement.

201X

Fred Bind joins CMF leadership, coming from another multi-generational metal finishing family.

201X

Johan Van Wyk joins the team as CFO.

2023

With a unified leadership team, CMF acquires the building next door, launching a world-class masking area and increasing staging space for higher-volume, high-precision work.

2025

Now with a XXX sq foot facility, XXX specs, CMF is now one of Florida’s only NADCAP-certified anodizing shops. We continue to invest in quality, people, and precision.
